Privacy policy

How we handle your information. Last updated September 2026.

The short version

We collect one thing: your email address, and only if you type it into the newsletter box yourself. We do not sell it, rent it, or hand it to anyone. There are no advertising trackers on this site.

What we collect

Your email, if you subscribe. Submitted through a form handled by Netlify, our host, and stored in their dashboard. We use it to send the monthly email and nothing else.

Anything you send us. If you email a correction or a question, we keep that message so we can reply and so we have a record of what was changed.

Standard server logs. Netlify records requests to the site, including IP address, browser and page requested. This is ordinary hosting infrastructure, we do not build profiles from it, and we do not link it to subscribers.

What we do not collect

No advertising cookies. No third-party trackers, pixels or fingerprinting. No account system, because there are no accounts. We do not buy data about you from anyone else.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own. You will not see a cookie banner here, because there is nothing to consent to.

Who else touches your data

Netlify hosts the site and processes newsletter submissions. Photography is served from our own servers, so the sites we sourced it from see nothing about you. Outbound links to retailers and publications take you to companies with their own policies, which we do not control.

Where it is stored

On Netlify's infrastructure, which may hold data outside Canada, including in the United States. Data held in another country can be accessed by that country's authorities under its own laws.

Your rights

Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), you can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, and ask us to delete it. Send it through our contact form and we will action it. Every newsletter also carries a one-click unsubscribe link.

Children

This site is not aimed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects you, the date at the top changes and we say what changed. We will not quietly widen what we collect.

Contact

Privacy questions go through our contact form. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

The monthly

Get the new lists when they land.

One email a month with what we published and what changed in the lists you already read. No sponsored picks, because we don’t sell placement.
