Mississauga’s pools mostly went in during one long building era, and they are coming due together. The clusters are easy to name: Port Credit, Lakeview, Streetsville, Erin Mills, Lorne Park. Vinyl in this climate gives ten to twelve years, which means a lot of these backyards are on their third or fourth liner and the owners have learned that the vinyl is rarely the interesting part.

Two by-laws set your calendar before any installer does. The storm sewer by-law will not let pool water reach a storm drain until it has sat seven days since the last chemical dose, within set chlorine and copper limits, through a hose no wider than about four centimetres. That is a week to plan around, not a call you make the night before. The enclosure by-law is the other: the fence and its self-latching gates have to be to standard before the refill begins, which matters if a panel comes out so a machine can reach the yard.

Then there is the part nobody mentions until it happens. An empty pool shell has nothing holding it down. After a wet spring, groundwater under a low lot can float a liner out of its track or shift the structure, so the number of hours your pool spends empty is a real question to ask, and the answer separates the crews on this page more than anything printed on their vans.

The list

Crush Pools Inc

Best overall

A dedicated liner crew, a measurement method it will explain, and the only warranty schedule on this page with numbers attached to it.

Why it is here

Liner replacement is the whole job here, not one line on a service menu. Two technicians do nothing else, and the lead installer's count runs into four figures. Everyone else on this page fits liners between openings, closings, equipment work and retail, so the person arriving in May spent the winter doing something else.

It is also the only company here that will explain how it measures. A dual point survey maps the perimeter before anything is cut, and that is what decides whether you get a wrinkle. On a rectangle almost any competent installer gets a fit. On a curved pool with a hopper bottom, of which Mississauga has plenty in Erin Mills and Lorne Park, the survey is the job and the rest is assembly.

The liner is Latham and the warranty has a shape: five years of full coverage on manufacturing defects and seam failures, then a twenty year prorated schedule. That paper is worth whatever the company's willingness to answer the phone in year eight is worth, which is why the CPO certification and the Pool Council of Canada membership matter. Those outlast staff.

Best for

  • Freeform and kidney shapes
  • A named liner warranty
  • Lorne Park and Streetsville

What sets it apart

Everyone here promises a custom fit. This is the only one that describes the method it uses to get one, before you have paid anything.

Worth knowing

  • It works out of Oakville. Mississauga is a service area, and the shop you could walk into is over the town line.
  • Latham only. If you want a pattern another manufacturer makes, this is the wrong door.

Jameson Pool & Spa

Best Mississauga base

The one company on this page that actually trades inside the city, with a counter for the parts and chemicals the job leaves you needing.

Why it is here

Jameson has a storefront in the Sheridan industrial pocket and the longest continuous trading record on this page. The counter matters more than people expect. A liner replacement ends in a full refill and a chemistry reset, which is the week you find out the skimmer basket is cracked and the chlorine is gone. A shop you can drive to beats a shipping estimate.

The measurement is done on CAD from the pool's own dimensions, and the preparation is spelled out: the concrete floor scraped smooth and patched where it needs it, the steel walls prepared before the liner goes near them. That is where liner jobs quietly fail. A wrinkle in the first season is almost never bad vinyl. It is a floor nobody troweled.

It publishes a budget band too, unusual in a trade where every number starts with a site visit. What keeps it second is breadth: openings, closings, leak detection, equipment, renovation and retail all run alongside the liner work. Crush above it does one thing, and on a page about that one thing, that decides the order.

Best for

  • A shop you can visit
  • Steel wall and floor prep
  • West Mississauga and Etobicoke

What sets it apart

A counter inside the city. Everyone else here dispatches into Mississauga. Jameson trades in it.

Worth knowing

  • The liner page names no manufacturer and states no warranty terms. Ask which liner you are getting and what covers it before you sign.
  • A second location across the Oakville line means your crew is shared with another town's calendar.

Ultimate Pools

Best for suspected leaks

It pressure tests the circulation system while the pool is empty, before the new liner goes in, which is the only time that test is cheap.

Why it is here

One step separates Ultimate from everything above and below it. Before the new liner goes in, the circulation lines are pressure tested for hidden leaks, which decides whether a replacement solves your problem or postpones it. Vinyl covers the shell. It does not touch a return line, a skimmer throat or a cracked fitting, so if the water was leaving through the plumbing, new vinyl buys you a season and the same slow drop.

Installation is handled by its own technicians rather than subcontractors, across a service volume in the hundreds of pools a year. Liners are Latham and Megna, and on site dimensioning is its own step rather than a line on the quote. That volume is the argument: a crew touching that many pools has already met whatever is behind your old liner.

Against Jameson above it, the trade is a counter in the city against a service department with scale. If your pool has been topped up all summer, that ordering flips and this becomes the first call.

Best for

  • A pool losing water
  • Latham or Megna liners
  • In-house crews, no subcontractors

What sets it apart

Testing the plumbing before the liner goes in, rather than after the water goes back and the evidence is buried.

Worth knowing

  • No warranty terms published on the liner page. The manufacturer covers the vinyl; ask in writing what covers the installation.
  • Oakville based, with a weekday service department. Weekend scheduling is not on the table.

Swimpool 360

Best for a staged renovation

Cost band, gauge options, timeline and a written quote with no verbal change orders, all of it published before you pick up the phone.

Why it is here

Swimpool 360 publishes what most companies save for the site visit: what a liner costs, how long it takes, and what the step up from twenty mil to twenty seven mil buys. If the liner is one item behind a deck, a heater and a pump, it sets out what order to do them in. For a homeowner staging the work rather than doing it at once, that sequencing is useful.

The quote practice is why it sits here. Written quotes, no verbal change orders. Liner jobs generate change orders more than almost any other pool work, because what the old liner was hiding is invisible until it comes out. A rusted wall panel is a real cost, and a company that puts the revision in writing is one you can hold to it later.

It is also the only one to tie its licensing and insurance position to the Ontario Building Code and Mississauga's own requirements, with the owner named as being on site rather than dispatching. What keeps it below Ultimate is thinner depth on the liner itself, no named manufacturer, and a base a long way north of the city.

Best for

  • Liner with deck and coping
  • Salt and variable-speed upgrades
  • Port Credit and Lakeview

What sets it apart

The only one here that publishes the numbers, the gauge choice and the sequence before there is any conversation at all.

Worth knowing

  • No warranty beyond a walkthrough shortly after the work. On the liner itself, the manufacturer's paper is what you have.
  • The licensing claim names no registry or governing body. Ask which licence covers which part of the work.
  • The base is well north of Mississauga. This is a service area reached by a long drive, not a neighbourhood shop.

Mayascapes Pools

Best for deck and surround

The one that can quote the liner and the concrete around it, when the vinyl is the symptom and the deck is the cause.

Why it is here

Mayascapes builds pools: concrete, fiberglass, decking, coping, lighting and the landscape that frames it. The liner is one service inside that, and it earns a place here for the case where the vinyl is the symptom and the cause is a deck lifting away from the coping track, or a surround that has pushed frost into the same corner for a decade. That job wants one contractor, not two quoting around each other.

The liner work itself runs in stages, with the measurement confirmed a second time before installation rather than taken once and trusted. It also keeps an office inside Mississauga, which Swimpool 360 above it does not.

So why fifth. On the specific job this page is about, the detail runs thinnest: no manufacturer named, no warranty terms set out, and a service map reaching from Niagara through Kitchener and Waterloo. Breadth of territory is the opposite of what you want when a crew is booked for two days in your backyard in July.

Best for

  • Liner with deck repair
  • Coping and surround work
  • One contractor for both

What sets it apart

The only company here that will rebuild what the pool sits in, not just what the pool holds.

Worth knowing

  • No liner manufacturer named and no warranty terms described for the liner work.
  • The service map runs from Niagara to Kitchener and Waterloo. Your job competes with jobs ninety minutes away.
  • Pool building is the larger business. Liner replacement is the smaller half of it.

Pallett Pool & Spa

Best small local operator

The only outfit here whose entire published service area is this city, with a lifetime prorated warranty position and Saturday appointments.

Why it is here

Pallett is the smallest footprint on this page and the only one whose published territory is Mississauga and nothing else. For anyone left waiting because the previous job ran long in another city, that is worth something. Saturday hours help too, since pool decisions get made on weekends and most of this trade closes at five on Friday.

The warranty position is the strongest thing it puts forward: a lifetime prorated manufacturer warranty, with an extended option available. Set that against Crush at the top, which names both the liner and the schedule attached to it, and the gap becomes the question to ask. Pallett names the warranty but not the product carrying it, and a prorated lifetime term means very different things depending on whose vinyl it is.

The process description is unhurried and specific where it counts: measure, inspect, repair what is behind the old liner, install, test. Hot tubs and safety covers sit in the same business, so closing season is the same crew. It sits last because of what cannot be checked, not because of anything it says.

Best for

  • Mississauga only, nowhere else
  • Saturday scheduling
  • Pool and hot tub together

What sets it apart

A published service area of exactly one city. Everyone else on this page is dividing a week between several.

Worth knowing

  • No published street address, only a service area. Ask where the crew works out of.
  • No tenure, credentials or manufacturer named anywhere. Everything positive on this entry is also a question to put to them directly.

Which one for your situation

A liner that wrinkled a season after it went in
Crush Pools Inc A wrinkle that early is a measurement problem or a floor problem. The perimeter survey happens before the vinyl is cut, which is where that gets prevented.
You need parts and chemicals the same afternoon
Jameson Pool & Spa A counter inside the city, so the mid-season fix does not wait on a delivery window.
The pool has been losing water for two summers
Ultimate Pools The circulation lines get pressure tested while the shell is empty, which is the only time finding a plumbing leak is cheap.
The deck and the coping are going at the same time
Mayascapes Pools Concrete, coping, decking and lighting sit in one business, so a single contractor owns the surround instead of two blaming each other.
You want a price and a timeline before you call anyone
Swimpool 360 The cost band, the gauge options and a one to two day window are published, and changes to the quote go in writing.

What it costs in Mississauga

JobTypical rangeWhat moves it
Inground vinyl liner, supplied and installed$4,500 to $8,500A sixteen by thirty two foot pool in the GTA usually lands between $5,500 and $7,000. Shape moves it more than size does.
Above-ground liner replacement$1,500 to $3,000Liner and labour. Track or wall damage found during removal is priced separately.
Upgrade to a heavier gauge$300 to $700Twenty mil vinyl typically gives eight to ten years, twenty seven mil twelve to fifteen. On a shaded or heavily used pool it pays back.
Floor and base repair found on removal$500 to $2,000Nobody can quote this before the old liner is out. Ask for it as a written revision, not a verbal one.
Steps, benches or a custom feature$400 to $1,500 and upEvery added corner is another seam, which is where a specialist installer earns the difference in price.
Refill with municipal water$300 to $600Peel bills single homes across two consumption tiers, and a refill can push the period into the higher one.
Water truck delivery instead$200 to $400 per loadMost inground pools take one to three loads. Worth pricing against the tap if your quarter is already high.

Ranges reflect what these companies and their competitors quote for typical residential work. Every job is priced on inspection.

How to choose in Mississauga

Count back seven days before the drain date

Mississauga's storm sewer by-law allows residential pool water into a storm sewer only after it has sat at least seven days since the last chemical dose, and only within the chlorine and copper limits the by-law sets. The hose is capped at about four centimetres and the water goes out at off-peak times. Ask who is draining your pool and where it is going. Filter backwash is separate and belongs in the sanitary drain inside the house.

Ask how many hours the shell will sit empty

An empty vinyl pool is at its most vulnerable, because the groundwater under it has nothing pushing back. On a low lot the water table can float a liner out of the track or move the structure itself. Ask whether the crew can strip, prep and set the new liner in one visit, and what happens if rain arrives midway.

The enclosure has to be right before the water goes back

Mississauga requires a pool enclosure wherever the water will be deeper than 0.61 m, at a minimum height of 1.22 m for a detached or semi-detached home, with gates that are self-closing and self-latching. If a fence panel comes out so a machine can reach the yard, it goes back before the refill starts, not after.

Ask who is allowed to touch the electrical

If the visit also involves the pump, the heater, the lights or the bonding grid, that work needs an ECRA/ESA licensed electrical contractor filing a notification with the Electrical Safety Authority, and it gets inspected. Bonding has to be inspected before anything is buried under concrete. A pool company that can swap a pump is not automatically permitted to wire it.

Gas heater work is a TSSA matter

A natural gas or propane pool heater has to be worked on by a technician holding a TSSA gas licence, with the municipal permit and inspection that follow. Ask for the technician who holds it rather than the company that employs them, because those are not always the same answer.

Ask for the WSIB clearance certificate

A worker hurt in your backyard without coverage can become your problem. Several companies here state WSIB coverage without being asked, which is the right instinct. A clearance certificate takes a legitimate operator a minute to produce, and asking costs you nothing.

Questions people ask

What does a pool liner replacement cost in Mississauga?

Budget $4,500 to $8,500 for an inground liner supplied and installed, with a sixteen by thirty two foot pool typically landing between $5,500 and $7,000 across the GTA. Above-ground work runs $1,500 to $3,000. What moves the number is shape, gauge, pattern, and whatever the old liner was covering up.

When is the best time of year to replace a liner here?

Early spring once the ground has thawed but before the heavy rain, or early fall. Moderate temperatures let vinyl stretch into place instead of fighting you, and the shoulder seasons carry less groundwater pressure while the shell is open. Midsummer works, but you lose swimming weeks and compete for the crews everyone else wants.

Can I drain my pool into the street?

Only under conditions. The storm sewer by-law requires the water to have sat at least seven days since the last chemical dose and to meet the chlorine and copper limits it sets, discharged through a hose of about four centimetres or less, at off-peak times such as evenings or later weekend mornings. Filter backwash is different: that belongs in the sanitary drain inside the house, never the street.

How long should a liner last in this climate?

Ten to twelve years with reasonable maintenance. Summer UV and the freeze and thaw cycles either side of winter are what wear it out. The signs are brittleness at the waterline, the bead slipping out of the track, staining that will not brush off, and a water level dropping faster than evaporation explains.

Do I need a permit to replace a liner?

Replacing a liner inside an existing pool is not a building permit job. The enclosure requirement does not pause for the work, though: where the water will be deeper than 0.61 m the fence and self-latching gates have to be to standard before you refill. A new deck, a coping change or structural work on the shell is a different conversation with the city.

Will the refill show up on my water bill?

Yes, and it can move you into a different bracket. Peel bills single-unit homes on two consumption tiers, and a full refill is enough on its own to push a billing period past the basic-use threshold. Wastewater is charged on eighty five percent of water used, the allowance for water that never comes back down the drain. Ask whether the quote includes filling.

Will a new liner fix a leak?

Not reliably. A liner covers the shell, not the plumbing behind it, so a return line, a skimmer throat or a cracked fitting will go on leaking under brand new vinyl. If the pool has been losing water, the days when the shell is empty are the one cheap chance to pressure test the lines. Ask for that test explicitly; it is not standard everywhere.
